Kazakhstan has reached a significant milestone in its intellectual property development by issuing its 10,000th utility model. This achievement highlights the country's growing emphasis on innovation and the role of utility models in driving technological progress across various industries.
In Kazakhstan, they have been instrumental in advancing fields such as mechanical engineering, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and green technologies.
This achievement aligns with Kazakhstan’s notable performance in the Global Innovation Index (GII). In the 2024 report, the country ranked 10th globally for the number of utility model applications filed relative to GDP. This ranking reflects a high level of inventive activity and a robust focus on integrating innovative technologies into key sectors of the economy.
The issuance of a 10,000 utility model is a testament to Kazakhstan's efforts to become a regional leader in innovation and technology. Qazpatent, Kazakhstan’s National IP Office, plays a crucial role in this success by simplifying patenting processes, raising public awareness of intellectual property rights, and collaborating with international organizations to enhance the country's IP framework.
