The China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) hosted the 24th TRIPO Heads Meeting in Shanghai, bringing together representatives from CNIPA, the Japan Patent Office (JPO), and the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO). CNIPA Commissioner Shen Changyu, JPO Commissioner Ono Yota, and KIPO Commissioner Kim Wan Ki led their respective delegations to review progress on trilateral and bilateral projects, plan future initiatives, and sign key agreements. These included a renewed memorandum of understanding on data exchange between CNIPA and KIPO. Discussions also aligned with the "10-Year Vision for Trilateral IP Cooperation," introduced at the recent China-Japan-ROK Trilateral Summit.

During the meetings, the CNIPA Commissioner highlighted the significance of IP cooperation as part of the broader China-Japan-Korea collaboration, reflecting priorities outlined by President Xi Jinping. He emphasized the inclusion of trilateral IP cooperation in the Joint Declaration of the Ninth China-Japan-ROK Trilateral Summit, which aims to boost innovation and regional development. Both JPO and KIPO Commissioners commended the collaborative achievements over the past year and expressed a strong commitment to further strengthening IP partnerships.

The 12th TRIPO User Symposium was also held in Shanghai under the theme "Building a Better Business Environment Through IP Public Service." Shen underscored the importance of accessible and efficient IP services in fostering a business-friendly environment. Over 100 representatives from the three IP offices and industry professionals participated, focusing on enhancing public services and aligning efforts to support science, technology, and economic growth across the region.

Next year’s TRIPO Heads Meeting and User Symposium will be hosted by JPO, continuing the tradition of trilateral engagement and advancing the shared vision for intellectual property cooperation.
